Guava Island is short musical film directed by Hiro Murai most notably known for the hit series Atl. The film features Donald Glover who plays Deni, a young inspiring musician who is trying to hold a festival to liberate and uplift the people of Guava Island. Along the way of trying to perform at the festival runs into a few obstacles. Rihanna plays Kofi (Deni’s girlfriend) and Letitia Wright plays Yara Love (Kofi’s friend)
The acting was decent; this film was more about the messages within the music. I was truly entertained it truly reminds me of an extended music video. Great music selection and choreography. The plot was pretty simple and to the point. If you get a chance to watch it, it is a very artistic film that packs substance. You just want a little more from this short film, it might be too short.
